I understand that the technical academies are four-year programs of study except for the apprenticeships.  They include composition and literature, mathematics, science, social studies and foreign language.  I also understand that I must complete the state requirements in physical education, computer literacy, fine arts and health.  Admission to an academy program for diploma or certificate depends upon meeting admission requirements outlined for each program. Students must successfully complete the course sequence and participate in required activities.

I understand that students at the Jefferson County Technical Academies are expected to maintain above average conduct and an academic grade point average of 2.0.  If I fail to meet these expectations, I may be dismissed from the program.

To be eligible for consideration, I must meet the following requirements:

  1. Have a 2.0 academic GPA for the last two available semesters.  A copy of my permanent record card and test scores must be included with this application.
  1. Have met special requirements for the chosen academy program; e.g. visual arts portfolio assessment, theatre audition, math/science teacher recommendation, counselor recommendation, etc.
  1. Submit a handwritten essay, which should be a personal essay explaining why you want to attend the Jefferson County Technical Academy explaining why I am interested in being an academy student as well as previous accomplishments and goals for the future in my chosen area of study.
